Legal Holds

Legal holds preserve data for litigation, investigation, or regulatory matters by suspending normal deletion/retention for scoped content.

Capabilities

• Scoped preservation: hold by user, space/room, or resource type.

• Retention suspension: covered data is not purged by retention rules or user deletion while the hold is active.

• Auditability: hold creation, scope changes, and releases are recorded in Audit Logs.

Administration

• Holds can be created and released by authorized org administrators or legal admins.

• Pivot will not automatically delete data under an active hold, including for deactivated users.

• After a hold is released, normal retention rules resume.
